Lynn J. Geissler, age 66 of Eau Claire, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire from complications of ALS. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Ave., Eau Claire WI with pastor Kurt Jacobson officiating. Visitation will be Friday, January 6, from 5 - 8 p.m. at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Rd., Eau Claire, WI 54701 and on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services. Military honors will be provided by the VFW Post 305 of Eau Claire at the church.

Lynn was born on February 26, 1945 in Chippewa Falls, the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Kressin) Geissler. He grew up in Racine, WI and attended UW-Madison, graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering. Lynn worked in Milwaukee as a traffic engineer. In 1969, he enlisted in the US Army and served as a personnel specialist during the Vietnam War.

On May 28, 1976 he married Virginia Zickuhr in Milwaukee. In 1978, they moved to Howards Grove, near Sheboygan, where Lynn was employed by Donohue and Associates. In 1982, Lynn, Virginia and their two sons moved to Eau Claire where he worked for the City as Traffic Engineer until 1995. He then worked at Hutchinson Technology until his retirement in 2001.

Before his illness, Lynn enjoyed bowling, tennis and golf. He was an active volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program for 12 years. He had also done volunteering for Triniteam Caregivers as a driver. Lynn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of VFW Post 305 of Eau Claire.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia; two sons, Brian (Desiree) and Jason (girlfriend Mishana), both of Eau Claire; two grandsons, Lucas and Landin; a sister and brother in law, Odetta (Alan) Ross of Manitowoc, WI. and close friends Jim (Jean) Wold. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Lynn was a loving, husband, father, grandpa and brother. He will be greatly missed by all.
