Elizabeth Jean Smith (Armstrong), age 87, died at home in Eau Claire on January 1, 2012.
Jean, as she preferred to be called, was a lifelong resident of Eau Claire. She was married for 57 years, until her loving husband passed away in 2002. A woman of quiet generosity and charity she spent the last few years at Good Shepherd Senior Apartments, where she enjoyed her favorite pastimes, reading books and watching baseball.
She was preceded in death by parents Luvern and Esther Armstrong and husband Clarence Thomas Smith, all of Eau Claire. She is survived by sons Thomas (Rita Xistris), Plymouth, Minn., and Mark (Karen Patrow), Eau Claire; granddaughter Michelle (Adam Shain), Sharon, Mass., and great-grandchildren David and Elizabeth Shain.
Memorial service will take place at 11:00 am on Friday January 6, 2012 at Christ Church Cathedral, 510 S. Farewell Street, Eau Claire, WI 54701. The Very Reverend Michael Greene will officiate. Memorial visitation will take place at the church Friday morning from 10 am until the time of services. Committal service will take place Friday afternoon in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Jean's name to the church.
